Spoofing Cards

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Are caller ID spoofing cards legal?

Yes! All features of spoofing cards are legal in the US, but some uses may be illegal depending on the state you're calling to or from. Some states have laws that make it illegal to change caller ID to mislead, defraud or deceive the recipient of a telephone call. So before using a spoofing card, make sure it's not illegal in your state.

Also, if you plan on recording the call, many states require that you inform the other party.

The spoofing card companies disclaim any and all liability or responsibility for your use of the card's spoofing or recording capability.

Can calls be traced back to me?

The spoofing card companies keep your financial, personal and call records confidentially and are untraceable. However, if the company is served with a subpoena because of illegal activity, they will cooperate with the court and hand over the requested information.

Can any number be used to show up on the caller id?

Any 10 digit number can be used, and some cards even support International numbers. It's not just the number that will appear on the caller ID display, but also the name registered for that number.

What number will be on the phone bill of the person I call?

The same number that appeared on the caller ID display will appear on the recipients phone bill. Your number will never be shown!

Can I call internationally?

With Bluff My Call, you can! They are the only provider that has international capabilities, and like national calls, you can change your voice and record the calls, too. If Bluff My Call doesn't have a local or toll free access number in your country, then you can initiate the call from their website. However, because of the way calls are connected varies from country to country, if the caller id does not show up properly, let them know and they'll try to best to fix the problem, and give you a credit for the failed call. SpoofCard does not currently offer international calling.

Can I dial the access number from any phone?

It depends on what card you're using. SpoofCard does not support dialing the access number from a Payphone or Skype. However, you can dial into Bluff My Call from any cell phone, landline, traditional VoIP service, or even payphone.

How will I receive my spoofing card?

Again, this depends on who you're using. SpoofCard and Stealth Card will send you a physical card, as well as instant access via email. Bluff My Call does not send a physical card.

Can I send a Spoof SMS text?

Sorry, but none of the providers currently support changing the caller ID for SMS text.
